I ran this adventure a few days after Christmas and designed it primarily around the idea of somehow including snowmen as enemies. I also have a Frost Giant miniature that I've only gotten to use once in five years. The two went together really well.

The villagers of Windswept are dealing with a serious problem. As they prepared for their annual holiday festivities, the already frigid winter weather took a turn toward the dangerous! The temperatures dropped low and snow and sleet have been falling ceaselessly.

The villagers have heard strange chants echoing on the wind, coming from the direction of Tallpeak Mountain. The Player Characters (PCs) have been hired to investigate and, if possible, stop whatever’s causing the endless winter storm.

The Base of the Mountain

When the PCs arrive at the foot of Tallpeak Mountain, they’ll find mysterious mounds of snow waiting for then. If the PCs get close to them, the mounds will take humanoid shapes and attack!

Snow Minions were made from mini-marshmallows, toothpicks, and candy markers.

The Mountain Trail

After the PCs defeat the Snow Minions, they’ll come to a path leading up to the mountainside. As they climb the mountain, the cold, wind, and snow will grow so intense that it will start to wear them out. Have every PC roll a Constitution DC. Anyone who rolls under a 12 fails and takes 1d4 damage from the cold.

The Peak of Tallpeak Mountain

Once the PCs arrive at the top of Tallpeak Mountain, they’ll be met by a booming voice that challenges their presence: “Who dares to enter the domain of Grothok the Great!”

When the PCs respond, the weather will clear enough for them to see the source of all their problems: a massive Frost Giant.

Grothok will explain that he was using the cold winter weather to travel south and then, during his travels decided to stay here and make a home. Settling on Tallpeak Mountain also means his rooting his magic in the area, however. His power is the reason why the weather in the area has intensified.

Grothok will summon some Giant Snow Minions and demand the PCs leave. Once the PCs defeat the Giant Snow Minions, they’ll have a chance to negotiate with Grothok himself. If they fail, they’ll need to defeat him before he’ll agree to vacate the mountain.
